Native of Petersburg, VA, Altmann attended the University of Maryland College Park earning a B.A. in African American Studies with a focus in Public Policy in 2009. While attending the University of Maryland, he served as a Mentor for the Prison 2 College Pipeline Program, Black Male Initiative Program and as a Campus Mentoring Big Brother through the Nyumburu Cultural Center. Additionally, Altmann served as Political Action Committee Chair for the NAACP University of Maryland College Park Chapter.  Altmann concluded his political action career at the University of Maryland by running and serving as the President of the Black Student Union from 2007- 2008. Upon graduation, Altmann worked as an intern in the Office of The Honorable Anthony G. Brown, Lieutenant Governor of Maryland. In the winter of 2009, Altmann became a staff person for the Honorable Ingrid M. Turner Esq., Prince George’s County Council, as her Constituent Services Specialist until 2015. He continued his service with the Prince George’s County Council in the Office of Council Member Deni Taverns until the spring of 2016. In March of 2016, Altmann will begin working in the Non-Profit Sector for Food & Friends Inc., as the Intergovernmental Relations and Grants Manager. Furthermore, Altmann is currently seeking a Master’s in Public Administration at Bowie State University. Altmann currently resides in Prince George’s County and intends to continue a career in politics.
