Kristen Franklin is a native Mobile, Alabamian and eldest of three. She is the only daughter of Karl Franklin and Pamela Abrams.
She answered the call to become a public servant during her undergraduate studies at Arizona State University, while attending the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference in 2009. During the conference she learned that “To those whom much is given, much is expected." She is the first person in her family to attend and complete college. She realized that she stand on the shoulders of amazing trail blazers and her ultimate task in life is to enhance the quality of life for those that come after her.
Currently, Miss Franklin is completing her last semester of the Graduate Program at the University of Maryland in Community Planning. Professionally, she serves as a Transit Planner for Prince George's County Government. She is also serving as the Student Representative and Emerging Leaders Committee Chair for the Maryland Chapter National Forum for Black Public Administrators.
She holds membership in the Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT), American Planning Association (APA), and the Project Management Institute (PMI).
